The children’s play has developed into being able to use loose parts, blocks and creative materials to make familiar and unfamiliar landscapes. The children make villages and towns, thinking about what they need to include. For example, buildings, people, shops and homes, plus natural features like hills, the sea and trees. The children discussed “tall buildings” like “skyscrapers”. Why are they called skyscrapers? We discussed this and the children said “it is taller than Mrs Young” 😃 The children also made Hayling Island, thinking about how the sea needs to be all the way around the island.
